I would guess so. You redeem the code on PlayStation and it adds it to your library like any other game. I can't say for certain though as you don't earn any points or whatever it is PlayStation does for "cash back".

If you're going to redeem the code on the account that is being shared to your friend, then yes it will work with no issues.

I'm really tempted. I've been wanting to get Astro from Day 1 but I've got a backlog that tells me don't pay full price on games so I've held out. This is about the price I've been waiting for but I typically won't spend more than $10-15 on a digital title. Decisions, decisions.
