This works fine with ethernet backhaul.
I bought this last time from costco at same price to replace tp-link m9.
What I like about this is extra ethernet ports on both router and satellites as well as app that let's you see all working of your network.
My M9 didn't tell me how satellites were connected and where bottleneck was. I was getting only 100mb from m9 and as soon as I plugged in these bad boys my wireless network speed jumped to 280 to 320. I have 400mb from spectrum.
I jumped to mesh networking after using ubiquiti ac-pro for over a year and happy with results.
I still prefer ubiquiti for small business networking but these are perfect for home use infact they filled one wireless deadspot in my house where ubiquiti struggled and placement for both aps were same. one router and 2 satellites are covering 3 floors+basement of my house + detached garage without any difficulty.
Absolutely no problems with my Orbi's and my whole house is connected, from Ring cameras to Lutron Caseta Switches. This is a great price for $300, bought the RBK50 for $200 and it was refurb, still looking for a 3rd satellite and they retail for $200+ easily.
I understand what you are saying. Every mesh router has issues and a lot of it is dependent on the product you received and luck. I have had a love-hate relationship with Velop. I finally gave up. and switched to Deco M9 since this was expensive at that time.

On top of all that, I would take a chance since its COSTCO - God Bless them! LOL

Can anyone confirm if these can use an Ethernet backhaul? Looks like they can from the Netgear forums, but not sure if model numbers vary or firmware has changed.

Friends do not let friend buy Orbi...

Tons of complains (includfing mine) about constant internet disconnects( https://www.google.com/search?q=netgear+orbi+rbk50+disconnect&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS755US755&oq=netgear+or... [google.com]) and wi-fi connection drops (https://www.google.com/search?rlz...tion+drops [google.com]) All Netgear posts are marked solved mostly the solution provided is to download a new firmware which usually breaks other things. Apparently Netgear is too busy chasing resellers off the marketplaces instead of fixing firmware issues.

I replaced my Google Wifi mesh with this unit last xmas...a little more difficult to manage/set up (google wifi is incredibly easy), but seems a little faster maybe with better coverage.

One downside is the units are awful looking...remind me of some medical device. Really liked the google wifi units.

I bought the first Orbi when it came out for $600 that included one base and two satellites. The device has been rock solid across a 4 story home aside from the occasional disconnect due to someone unplugging the satellites by accident. It seemed expensive at the time but how much is my time worth wrestling with internet that doesn't work?

I got the Asus blue cave for $70 last week. They are supposed to come in a few days. Also for the M9 deal. I cringe spending so much for these. But I just want to "set and forget".

Not sure if u should order it or just work with the other two my main routers are and 68u and tnob ac1900

They can but it breaks my network sometimes. Like if your updating or restarting them. They attempt to try to become a router and my actual router gets in a fight with them and its bad news bears all around. So you have to let the main one come up and resync them each time there is an update. The wireless back haul works very well as well but I just prefer to have the lowest response time/ping/fastest speed.

Usually the phone lines are attached to the modem. This is a router/ap kit. Basically the "router" wirelessly connects via a back-haul 5ghz connection and expands your wireless signal.
