Lets just get this out of the way: yes you can get a comparably spec'd Windows PC for less. Yes this sucks because the internal storage is soldered to the motherboard. Yes, you need a Costco membership to get this price.

But, on the off chance you happen to want one of these despite all of the above, this is the best deal I've seen on these - including Apple refurbs - by $100.

You can add AppleCare+ for $90 (separate product page) as well. The entry-level i3 Mac mini with 128GB SSD is also on sale for a much more easily available $699. The i5/256GB system seems to be a good sweet spot for a lot of users.

Expires 25 Aug.

Awesome little machine for sure. However, Since they bumped the base price it is no longer consider as introductory Mac. Also, even for me Mac Mini lover like me, at this price point it is becoming very difficult to figure out if I should just go with a MacBook Pro or even a MacBook Air.

I guess to me the Mini was meant to be cheap and customizable. Still good machine, just harder to justify at this price point when there are other Mac precuts around the same price range.
Two words - NUC Hackintosh. I bought an i5 8th gen Intel NUC used for $300 (no tax) and it included 8 GB memory and 500 GB M.2 NVMe SSD (I upgraded to 16GB and 1 TB). Fairly easy to Hackintosh and it can also boot Windows and Linux easily since those OSs are native.
Better price at MicroCenter of you have one around you. $869.99

With that said I will never buy a Mac Min ever again given the price increase. I already retired my old mac mini and moved my server to Linux. Much economical and as reliable.

Yup. I need a new Mac for home and actually don't like the idea of it being portable (eg kids being able to take it to their rooms) so that leaves a Mini to replace the current (old) Mini or an iMac. I'd been tempted by the clearance prices on the 2017 iMacs but noticing this is faster than the $1399 (at B&H) 27in (other than the GPU) one on single core benchmarks (plus having 2 more cores), it suddenly brings this one to front runner status for me. (I haven't been able to stomach any of the 2014 Minis that have popped up on clearance such as the i5/1TB Fusion one at B&H that's gone as low as $480 recently.)

Mac Mini's definitely aren't the entry-level home computers they were 5-10 years ago. That may come back when they move away from Intel but for now, this is what we've got.

Haha. I have been insisting on having a desktop in my study for many years. But recently I have been thinking to go more mobile around the house. Wish this was a steeper discount though.

Seems like most don't since it's a 'club'. But you never know. ¯\(ツ)/¯

How easy to install new ram? I guess the old one will go waste. You installed 2 32GB? How much did you pay for them? Thanks
