I bit on this when it was posted a while back for the same price. Coming from Polk Monitor 60 Series II's, I think I was expecting a little bit more. These are certainly better, but they don't climb into the next tier of sound quality IMO.

My impressions:
I like audio gear, but I'm not high-level knowledgeable, and certainly not subscribed to borderline delusional audiophilia. My setup is stereo w/ a corner-located BIC F12 sub (80hz crossover). Receiver is set to flat (no DSPs enabled). I use these in my living room for movies and music.

Lows: I wish I could have had a chance to hear what the R263's sounded like, because I feel like the 5.25" drivers in the R253 are not quiet able to provide the body I'm looking for. I was hoping I'd be able to lower my sub's crossover to something below 80hz to get away from the "looseness" of the F12, but these speakers definitely need the extra help. I would say the lows are on par with my previous Polks.

The strongest point for these is the mids. They're very clear and clean. Vocals of either gender sound really great. This is the biggest upgrade from my last speakers.

The highs are a little too forward. It's completely fine in movies, but in some music it feels like cymbals are separated from the rest of the song. They're not necessarily harsh like a horn tweeter can be, but yeah... forward. I haven't messed around with my receiver's EQ, but at some point I may tune down some of the upper frequencies.
