I had $7.49 in great on kindle credit. Used it on a $6.99 book...earned 75% of that in additional great on kindle credit. 3 'great on kindle' purchases later I hit $15 and get the email from Amazon that I earned the $4 credit.
Can confirm that buying $15 in ebooks with digital credits works. I bought a $9.99 and a $7.99 book (separate purchases) and got the email with my $4 credit within 5 minutes.
