Oh, Amtrak has big traffic problems. They run on freight lines, and as a result have to pull over to every tonne a freight train wants to come through. The regularly have delays that reach double digit hours on long distance routes. We love train travel, and use it all the time when abroad. It's embarrassing how poorly it works on the US now, which was pretty much built by trains

I can drink bottles of wine / smoke the dank on Amtrak. Night and day compared to the terrible terrible experience that is Greyhound across state lines, much less across the country.

Actually Amtrak gets delayed all the time due to freight traffic which has higher priority on lines

How do you get a senior fare on Amtrak? Every time they have a "special" and I go to book, there are never senior fares availble.
