My son has last year's model and it overheats constantly. It is usable with laptop cooler but why carry that bulky cooler everywhere just so that one can use the "Ultra Portable" laptop?

Dude apparently not all of us are as wise and all knowing as you. I was happy to see that question asked and answered (especially without any cattiness.. til you, anyway). I was actually wondering the same thing.

It is not shameful or 'childish' to be unaware of something. We're all just trying to get some good deals and learn a few tricks hear n there. We should NEVER be shamed n afraid to ask questions to further educate ourselves. Period.
Slickdeals is supposed to be a safe place.. even 4 those of us that aren't pros.
We should ALL strive each and every day to be kind and accepting of others.

Intolerance, cruelty, and degrading name calling is something we should have learned not do to others when we were HAND HOLDING CHILDREN. Idk about all yall but my Momma didn't teach me the ins and outside of BEST BUY'S STUDENT DISCOUNT PROGRAM.
Bullying is f*@$ed up.
This world is already full of enough hate and ignorance.

My wife got a different Spectre laptop and it had the same issue. Solution is easy - delete all the junk wares that came with laptop. Especially McAfee.

McAfee constantly consumed 100% resources and fan was blowing. Once i deleted it and enabled windows defender, everything was good to go. We love her spectre laptop.

How's $683 for open-box? would that normally be off the $900 price or off the $750?

The surface laptop is better spec'd on the Newegg deal but for 750 this becomes tempting!

Doesn't it require some method of checking enrollment status?

It seems like the only thing this device has going for it is the 5w processor. It supposed to be extremely power efficient, but if what the other guy said above is true regarding thermals, then you're going to run into issues too. You might be better off buying a Surface Pro 6 as the core i5 processor in it with double the cores/threads as well as higher clock speed.

While you may have to make a potentially noticeable performance trade-off for amazing battery life depending on your workload (i7-8500Y is dual core but ultra low power), still a standout deal for a 2-in-1 with good specs, great build-quality, and included pen. Thanks op!

Great deal if I haven't bought the surface pro 6 black for $899 with type cover. Still no regret though.

Main advantage of the one is have USB-C but also be ware this one only has the 1080p display not the ultra HD display.
