If you read the reviews, the non-fuel version is typically preferred for any automotive work. The fuel version has a larger head and so it does not fit into tight spaces as easily. The additional torque provided by the fuel version is also moot, as you can generally just use the ratchet like a normal wrench to break loose any bolt. I was skeptical but bought the non-fuel version and it gets the job done very well. Super valuable tool for anyone doing automotive work.
While the fuel version is bigger. I've have yet found a situation where it's a problem. The fuel has a lot more torque than then the non fuel.
OP update. I was in a hurry and wanted to jump on this without waiting for delivery. Also, I wanted to check out the return battery option, since I had a few M12 batteries already. I was indeed able to go to a local HD, check out the bare tool + battery, get a price match, and then return the battery. Total with tax before return was $147.34. I was able to return the battery for $43.90, netting me the bare tool for $103.44 out the door. Of course, YMMV.

I don't have the M12 but the Husky from last Christmas deal. These powered ratchets are a real time saver. If you don't have one and you do much wrenching, you will be glad you got one. Ive used mine on a couple engine/transmission swaps and engine building. Major time saver!

If I typically use my m12 fuel impact, is there any benefit to this ratchet over that? Thank you

If you ever spend time with a ratchet in your hand... buy one of these. if not this model, another. they are game changers.

i picked up the non fuel version for this price 6-12 months ago, and holy cow. so nice. mine came with the charger. this does not. i have heard people talk about preferring the fuel or the non fuel... they both have their advantages, but honestly the advantages of either, arent big enough to worry about it. get whichever one you can find on sale.

Much smaller size allows you to get to bolts that aren't just at the top of the engine facing the sky.
