Seagate Backup Plus Hub 6TB External Hard Drive - Black (STEL6000100) SMR drive, Retail is $159.99 and some Target stores have them for $79.98. Normally I have terrible luck with Target clearance, but was able to find on Brickseek a store within a few miles had them in stock at that price. Was amazed and found two on the shelf, and now Brickseek accurately shows they are out of stock.
Worth a shot if there is a Target close to you with them in stock, my experience is when they say "Limited" there is either one on the shelf, or there is one returned one in the back room which may or may not be on the shelf.
So if you are willing to head to Target and be disappointed, here is the Brickseek link.

And once again this is a YMMV, so sorry if they are more expensive (many were in my area) or they are out of stock.

Would this be worth shucking or should I wait for a deal on a pmr drive? I'm admittedly not well versed on the difference between the two (how much difference does it *really* make?)

The in store price is $159.99.
Not worth the B&M trouble & disappointment...
Edit: Staples 4TB deal on the Seagate Backup Hub was decent for $70, so if you can find $60 that's not a bad idea.

SMR is fine for write once/read many scenarios. I know the 8tb drives have about 20gb of cache space for inbound writes, after that performance will drop down a ton.
Seems like a great deal if you can get it.
