From 10/24 through 12/2, military customers on Verizon purchasing any smartphone on device payment and activating a new line of service will be eligible to receive Amazon Prime membership for free for one year. Upgrades excluded.

Doesnt hurt to call up verizon and ask
You're still in the 14 day return/exchange period so they might honor it (instead of having to make you disconnect the line and start a new one today).
