Early versions of this drive use the Phison E12 controller and Toshiba TLC NAND, which essentially make it a twin of the popular Inland Premium 1TB (SD thread) that sells for $100 in-store at Microcenter [microcenter.com] or $111 on Amazon [amazon.com]. This drive has excellent performance for the price point.

But I'd be wary here. Sabrent may be pulling a shady switcheroo here. It wouldn't be the first time an SSD maker changed the guts of a drive and kept selling it with the same name and model number. (I believe SiliconPower and also Sandisk or maybe Kingston have been caught doing this).

They release a high-performing drive, sell it for a few months to glowing reviews, then downgrade it with cheaper components (or rebrand old stock) without changing the model number. None of their specs list a controller so they aren't "false advertising" by changing the controller.

A competent sounding reviewer claims they have done just this and even claims that Sabrent support confirmed this. This drive may no longer have the Phison E12 controller. You've been warned.

LINK to review [amazon.com] complete with photos of different versions of this drive. Note his order was fulfilled by Amazon but sold by store4pc which is a Sabrent channel partner / distributor. It may be a counterfeit drive with no wrong doing by Sabrent. If it were my I would just buy the Inland.
I just want to point out it was usually 109.99 or something like that through out the months on amazon. Not much of a deal, but it is cheaper by 4 bucks.
Seems to me someone put a 1TB sticker on their 512GB drive and returned it to seller. I doubt the manufacturer would do such a thing.

TLC or NAND?

Not sure, description says: "... Based on Toshiba's BiCS 3D TLC NAND flash memory, its performance speeds can reach up to 3450 MB/s (read) and 3000 MB/s (write)."

Is it 109.9 in normal time? How did it compare with ADATA XPG8200? The XPG8200 was about 90 a few days ago. Sorry for missing that. Thanks.

Be careful! I ordered one in July and it had a 1TB sticker on it. I just checked and they put a 1TB sticker on a 512gb package. Hadn't looked at it again since I'm collecting parts for my build. Amazon is making it right though.

inland premium $99.99 and about the same.

edit: at least I was told that, but this link claims higher write speed than the inland claims, despite both using Toshiba, so not sure if people were wrong or what.

edit 2: ok here is the problem... what's up with this bs? The microcenter site says up to 2800 write speed, but my package says up to 1900???

This is a great, fast drive. Not as cheap as it was earlier in the year, but still a good value. If I needed another, I'd absolutely buy at this price. (If I needed now and couldn't wait until BF)
