This really should not be called unlimited. I tried Kindle unlimited for free for a month when it first came out and cancelled early because no books I was looking for were included. I would check what is included before you buy.
Exactly. Its like netflix -- if they have a license for it with the publisher you can read it.

And surprise surprise most of the books people want aren't part of the "unlimited" package.

I would recommend people check out the audiobook selection at their local library. In a big/mid-size city it can be pretty amazing.

You can get access with your library card and then inputting it into one of the following apps:

Libby, Axis360, Hoopla

Support your local library and save some money!!
I actually use Kindle Unlimited for a ton of audiobooks. Usually they are either "listen for free" which means them come with the kindle unlimited book, or they are really cheap to add-on the audiobook ($1.99 is usually the price I pay for these audiobooks).

I keep an Amazon shopping list for Kindle Unlimited titles that catch my eye. Then when Amazon has these Kindle Unlimited membership deals, I grab it, borrow the Kindle Unlimited books, and buy the add-on audiobook.

Whenever you buy an Audible audiobook with cash or Audible's credit system, you keep that title, no matter if you have an Audible membership or not, it stays yours and is attached to your Amazon account (even if your Amazon account is Prime, or is not Prime). The only caveat is these are digital purchases, so you own them as much as you own online video games: you buy the access, so download your audiobooks in order to keep them forever.

If have further questions about Audible books through Kindle Unlimited, go to the subreddit specifically for Audible and post a link with any book in question. That group should help you get answers, when you get that annoying customer service bounce.

Renewed for 6 months thanks! Got a extra 20% off using chase freedom credit card offer for kindle unlimited (Ymmw)
How? Is that a general promo from Amazon through that card or just specific to this purchase? I have the same card but haven't seen anything about this

Same here, might be only for new subscribers?

The 6 month price I see is $47.86. Am I missing something?
The link in the OP is for the "gift" page, to give a kindle subscription to someone else, which was also the $47.98 for me too. But when I google "sing up for kindle" it took me to the personal sign up page, where it was the $29.99.

If you have a kid who loves to read, Kindle Unlimited is great! This is a good supplement to your local library e-books as well. Personally I wouldn't get it due to limited choice of Kindle Unlimited books.

Did the same and all methods show me only 47.86. Even from a non-prime account. So congrats to those who got it when it was 30. Looks like the 80.3 for 1 year is the next best to get now.

Guess someone at Amazon realized it didn't make sense to give the best discount on the shortest subscription... laugh out loud

Suppose I'll re-up with 2yrs. Thanks OP.

Tried Scribd.com probably 4 years ago and never needed another subscription book service. Kindle Unlimited is garbage in comparison

From what I read Scribd has a limit on how much you can read a month?

I just wanna put my 2 cents in. I did the same back when it first came out and realized it was mostly um "independently published" stuff with random well known series here and there and the occasional good cookbook BUT things have gotten better since then. Brandon Sanderson, JK Rowling, and many other well known authors now have their stuff. Usually it's book #1 of a series which is fine bet me because I like purchasing the hard copy of a book/series that I enjoy both to support the author and because I have....a condition. I still do ebooks via the library but sometimes there's a wait.
Now if you want to talk about seriously saving book money, stop paying for Audible and just download the audio books through your library!!

If there is, I've never reached it, but I'm admittedly only a casual reader anyway. Great selection of audiobooks included with the subscription price. Maybe I'm grandfathered into an older plan though.

Same here. Looks like they fixed the mistake after several people got a great deal on 6-months.
