Consumer Reports Free Online Access Via Online Library YMMV

Refer to my old thread that someone response said the info is no longer good. It has been over 2 plus years.

Refer: https://slickdeals.net/e/7982999-access-consumer-reports-free-online-via-local-county-library?v=1

One that still works for folks who don't have a local library that are well funded or a workplace that has free access to the consumer reports online site. I am a CR magazine subscriber for over 30 plus years. Please support them by subscribe to their Consumer Reports magazine or online subscription if you can afford it. Thanks.

This will come very handy for folks getting into their Christmas shopping early Applause.

If you knew of other online library that works please share them or let me know if any that is not working, thank you.

Okay I spend tons of hours surfing the web to find the info. I think for now it is good enough. Peace

My local library allows me online access to the CR database to search reviews of products. But not the magazine itself. Does this thread address magazine access? It was not really clear what the thread is saying you can access from CR.

It could be user access limited... maybe say in example under 40 users allow at each time. Anything over would temporary disable the account?

Fancy posting your Amazon login so I can buy stuff on your cc and deliver to my addy? I'm guessing you wouldn't be up for that... huh?

It's for people in the library's community. Chances are they pay for the access in some way. There's no way the terms and conditions allow for the whole world to log in.

Is this SlickDEALS or is this SlickGRIFT? I can post some guides on how to skim from your employer's cash register, trick parking meters, and hide your income on your taxes too. And also how to make your own handicap placards and service animal vests.

These people think that it's okay to take advantage of impersonal entities. It's a shame that these libraries tried to make access easier for their communities, and then we just pillage and plunder like it's a National Park during a government shutdown. Payback to big evil corporations is one thing, but these are public libraries. I don't know what deals they have worked out with the publisher, but likely their costs will go up and they'll have to lock up their resources behind a wall.

Community residency is not required to access resources at any of the 30+ public libraries here. My library's resources are available to anyone that goes to the website. Anyone that visits my local library can also walk in and use any of the resources no matter where their permanent residence is. Anyone can use the computers and read any of the magazines and books. I used to work at the library and we even issued library cards to non-residents. If they wanted to limit access to people in the community they could do so but they don't. The general philosophy of public libraries is to not limit access to information.

Thanks for explaining it. As you said it. My thinking is if they really wanted to lock it up they just have to change the sign in to CR with their library card ID.
