One tip- if you're buying this for any project that is made out of 2x4's, this 2 barrel jig isn't what you want. The barrels are too close together for 2x4's. Kreg makes a 3 barrel jig, I believe it's their 100 dollar kit, and you'd use the outside barrels on 2x4's. With this 2 barrel jig, you have to move the jig to drill the 2nd hole on 2x4's. So, in hindsight, I would've bought either the single barrel jig, or the 3 barrel. I'm sure this one has it's uses with other dimensions of lumber, but I work with 2x4's a lot.

How much more joinery work would I need to be doing to make the $50+ over an R3 jig worthwhile?
How often would you pull out the R3 to use if you already had the K4? Just wondering how much of an incentive having the R3 in this kit would be?
Thanks for the feedback!
EDIT: I guess when you factor in the clamp and even screws (both of which I'd likely get anyway) with an R3 then that gap seems to make this deal super compelling?
Not like everyone would just click on the box and claim to be a veteran to get discount if they could
They have ways to vet that you have served... You can either set that up in person and link it to your account, or use IDme. So no they can not just use it.

If you have a HD account, you can do exactly that. Once you prove eligibility it is linked to your HD account.

From amazon review if you get just the R3:

For $35 more, I hope a lot better
It still drives me nuts that I can't get my veterans discount with online purchases. It'd make this deal even better.
