I have this laptop but occasionally get weird vertical artifacts on my 1080p external monitor (Dell U2419HX) after 15-20 minutes of use. The problem seems to happen mostly randomly but seems more prevalent when playing video (such as on youtube). Once the artifacts appear, they affect everything on screen, both text and video.
The issue happens whether I set the laptop to mirroring mode or external monitor only. Oddly, even when I use the laptop on mirroring mode, the vertical lines only appear on my monitor, not the laptop's screen. In fact I've never seen the vertical lines on the laptop's screen. Pretty sure it's not my monitor's fault since I haven't had problems when using my Mac with the monitor, and I've tried multiple HDMI cables.
Maybe my laptop's graphics card or hdmi port is bad then? For the price with the i5-1035g4, I don't mind only using the laptop only with the built in screen but hoping it's not a sign of graphics failure in the future.

You're welcome, since there doesn't seem to be a board limitation for 32gb ram and looking at Intel ark that the cpu supports 64gb max, I would wager you could put 2x 32gb ram sticks in as well. I don't have a set on hand to test but in theory based on other hardware 64gb of ram is the actual limit of this machine.

If you do try 64gb, please post. Wouldnt know any reason why I personally would need 64gb but would love to see it actually take that amount
Can anyone please recommend memory and HDD upgrades for this laptop? Where to buy?Not planning to spend more and will not be used for really technical purposes, so will not add SSD but HDD.

Any 2.5 inch laptop drive up to 2tb should work. As far as memory goes, ddr4 2666 so-dimm.

Can you show a pic of the system info showing 32gb installed? Dell states it only will take 16gb

a 3rd gen i5 3450 is faster.
thats a desktop processor asshole.
I paid $279 for the Best Buy unit, still have not opened it. I don't care about the touch screen, so that is not a factor.
Black Friday.
I believe this one from walmart is the better deal as of today.
