Cabelas is DEAD since Bass Pro joined. Quality of items (Especially Clothing) is horribly bad.

Sadly I have to agree. For the clothing, they lowered the quality of materials for cheaper production, but at the same time upped their MSRPs and the worst part is, no more discounting.

So you are paying higher MSRP for a lower quality product than 2 years ago.

I'm so disappointed (because Cabelas was previously AWESOME, especially their clothing). The feds should have never allowed these companies to merge. It was not good for the consumer.

their in house brands have always sucked IMO. before and after the merge. id rather go with walmart brands, as much as i hate saying so. However, they have a lot of name brand items, and they also price match local and online stores. standard pricing is horrid, but if you combine gift cards like these with clearance items or price match items on sale elsewhere, you can get deals that are unattainable anywhere else.

additionally, i know a lot of people who buy cabelas gift cards for christmas cause all they know is uncle doyle is into hunting, and cabelas has hunting stuff. so if that's the route you're going, you might as well save 10%.

I am also sad how bass pro has pushed most of their fishing lineup and replaced the cabelas line. Really enjoyed the lifetime warranty on cabelas branded items. But now they have only a hand full of cabelas fishing gear in stock (especially at the store)

And I agree with other posters.. the discounts aren't as good as before.

The days of easily finding a 20 off 100 coupon at customer service.. Then combining it with 20% off gift cards pre purchased and bigger selection in the bargain cave is gone.

just bought 4 x $50 gift cards for 160. Looks like they are 20% off and not ten. I noticed that only the $25 cards are coming up 10%

Edit: just checked and only the $50 cards are coming up 20% off.

What Walmart brands are good cold weather hunting clothes? Do they have any rain gear that can hold up in briars?

dude. score and a half. thanks. i was on the fence with 10%, but 20 is a no brainer. wish it wasnt limited to the $50 cards. need about $700 in gc for what i want to buy.

Just an idea. 10% off hunting and fishing licenses, i bought 4 different states fishing licenses this year, saved me a bunch as i got mine 20-25% off a couple years ago.

fyi, i tried this, and it appeard to work, but then the email i got saying thanks for my order said the total was $225. i emailed to complain, with screen shots of the order, so we will see. not very hopeful though.

It works...check your pending credit card amount. Mine too appeared to be only 10% off until I checked my CC pending activity. There it shows I received a 20% discount on the $50 GCs.
I was always told to never email/call...hopefully they don't shut this down for the rest of us.
