Opinions on Firstrade & Other Stocks Places for Newbie?

3,741 3,608 November 15, 2019 at 09:46 AM
I'm just feeling things out. I did a freebie a couple of weeks ago with Firstrade & was given one stock in Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

I am wondering what anyone thinks of Firstrade and are there any better options out there.
I'm thinking of buying some cheap stock but I'm concerned about linking my bank and wondering how hard it is to get your money out when you're done.

All opinions will be appreciated. Smilie

Chase has a nice deal where you get 100 free trades the first year after you open a basic account. It's called You Invest. I like it but am thinking of using E-trade since my free commissions are gone. Rule 1: learn the SEC rules. It can cost you come tax time.

Everyone always wants to know what Warren Buffett is doing but they forget he makes mistakes and can afford to lose money. He's also a financial wizard. With Chase, you just do an internal transfer from checking or savings to your investment account. No worries, but of course not FDIC insured.

If you just buy cheap stock then you may as well throw it away. Likewise, don't listen to what every analyst says about buying and selling. Buffett has said he avoids investing in sectors or products he knows nothing about. It's a great rule of thumb. nod

Is your goal to save for retirement? Do you need some income? What are your goals?
