Great camera, extremely popular amongst street photographers. Hardly ever goes on sale.

It's not a zoom. It has a fixed focal length of 28mm (full frame equivalent) at f 2.8. It's a wide focal length that is good for street photography, landscape photography, etc. This is a fairly specialized camera but it has a solid reputation for its image quality and unassuming size. I should note this camera has no viewfinder other than an optional optical viewfinder and, as it is the older version, has no in body image stabilization. This the sale price it's hovered around for the past year. Not knocking this deal because I own this camera but, for the price, you might want to consider a used version III, which has IBIS, a higher resolution of 24mp, but no built-in flash, or a used fujifilm x100f, which shares a similar quality APS-C sensor.
This has dust issues, so does first GR. GR III has a built in dust cleaner function.
Whatever your feet can manage is the zoom range.

Another tip: This is on Buydig.com's "clearance" list but at full retail price ($547). Occasionally though, they'll run 15% or 20% coupons on clearance items. If you can wait until the next 20% clearance coupon, it's $437.56.

They crammed a DSLR sized APS-C sensor into a pocketable package with this camera... it's fantastic to travel with and very easy to shoot with

It does not zoom - 28mm equivalent fixed focal length. Not something I've seen on a point & shoot (though neither is an APS-C sensor).

I'm looking for a pocket camera for family vacations I don't want to lug my Sony mirrorless and big lens on. I'm happy with iPhone photos outdoors during daytime, but indoors/night shot suffers with iPhone only. Have always eyed a Sony rx100, but feel like part of its huge price is the up to 200mm zoom lens I don't need. I think like 20-85mm would be great. But could live with fixed to keep size/price down and give me a better aperture. Anyone have a good suggestion for something that meets my criteria and possibly be good for some good bokeh too?

Canon G7X maybe? Cheaper than the RX100, 24-100mm zoom.
