Does that one have a tank? More importantly since this is a kit, I'm unsure what that really means. Does this one have a tank since it's a kit?
amazon does not include the mapp gas tank.
We should note the bundle is included with mapp gas not propane. This is a good enough deal for me. I can use the mapp gas and I've been waiting for the 8000 for my searzall.

Genuine question. How do you know if the gas is okay for cooking. Just wondering if there is any difference. I've been using a torch with those Asian butane cans. My last torch caught fire I had to toss it on the ground and cover it in dirt. Spouse was screaming it was madness. This was while camping luckily. Torch was cheap Chinese one from ebay.

I don't think that koreanbeefcake is using this for cooking. Most likely since he mentioned needing it for his searzall, he is using it to sear his meat after sous vide cooking. I've recently picked up a Bernzomatic TS4000 and use this along with a normal propane tank to sear the edges of my meat. Much easier than trying to hold the edge of a steak vertically over the barbeque or in a cast iron pot.

FYI Searzall says not to use MAPP gas, only propane. Could be MAPP is a little higher temp and the screens on the Searzall don't last as long.
Fww mapp gas is a industry name such as bobcat(skidd stear) or Kleenex (tissue) and the original formula hasn't been manufacturered for a while(Co went out of business in 08). New 'mapp' gas doesn't burn much hotter than propane for the increase price, depending on which brand around 4,400 degrees where as old mapp gas was more like 5,400 degrees. Propane for reference is around 3,600 degrees.
Once the steaks are done put them on a plate and pat them dry. Put in refrigerator for 10 minutes. Throw on a cold grill and use the torch to finish the outside. Pat them dry if they look wet before using the torch.
The refrigerator step is important because it dries the outside and cools them off so you do not overcook them.
