If my current subscription ends in April, 2020, can I just but the Amazon one, load some sort of code and then for $29.99, I'll be extended to June, 2021?

I think so. From what I'm gathering Amazon give you a code which is good for a year. You add the code to extend your subscription.
I got this from their website:
Can I use a retail copy of the Subscription Release of Quicken to extend my membership?
Yes, but you can only redeem the activation code in the retail copy to extend your subscription in the last six months of your current subscription term. Note: Activation codes expire 24 months after being generated.
Amazon Chat tells me if I order quantity two, I'll get two codes. I don't see why I couldn't use one now, and the second one next year.
Limited time offer of 40% off the list price applies only to the purchase of Quicken Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business for the first membership term only when you order directly from Quicken by December 3rd, 2019, 11:59 PM PST.

I'm not sure then. I got the advertisement initially from within my old 2017

Gee, 1st post and I've been lurking here for 6 years. As regards the Amazon download, I went from currently subscribed deluxe (with 4 months left) to the captioned deluxe and it extended my subscription 14 months.
If you order directly with Quicken, it will be activated on the moment you purchase. Not sure if you already have a sub what would happen.
If you purchase a version that comes with the code, it will become active when you apply the code. Theoretically, buying two Amazon should give you 2 years 4 months, as long as you enter the second code in 14 months.
I was able to snag a 2018 copy which came with 2 years really cheap last year. I waited until this summer to activate it and am good for 2 years. Wish I would have gotten two of them...

Perfect! Did they show an expiration date to use the activation code by?

I think I will continue to use my old non-subscription-based copy. Does the job still. Are there any real benefits to using these newer editions?
I've been using mine for years. Currently 2017, but the online functionality is going to stop early next year for it. So forced upgrade. I'm not happy with it, but I've grown so used to using it and so OCD about my banking I haven't found any free options that I like.

Perfect, I'm gonna try to order qty 2 and see if that works. I figure I'll use one code now, and the second in 6 months or whenever I can to extend it.

My target price is $50 or less for a 2-year subscription.
I saw those sales during the 2017 and 2018 holiday seasons.
I am hoping that will come around again this year.
I am currently using YNAB. Any one have experience using both and can explain pros and cons of Quicken compared to YNAB? I am on the nYNAB so this would be cheaper too.

I have that same question. I currently have 2017 (the last year they did non-sub), so sometime in May 2020 or so, I'll lose the download capability. I bought a sealed 14-month Quicken 2019 from ebay for $15, so I'll just wait to activate it when 2017 can no longer download. If the code doesn't indicate an expiration date, I'm assuming you could contact Quicken, give them the code, and they could tell you the expiration date.
