Yes, they are not cheap. Yes they are awesome. I bought one from them 5 years ago and I like it even more now. You can read through these 4 threads for more details and info. I also wrote a review on my build process from start (attached in post #1).

Back then, their site was pretty bare, but now they have many useful videos [spindlemattress.com] on how to set it up and such. Their covers are also organic cotton and mine held up very nicely after 5 years. And trust me, I am hard on my mattresses with previous two coil ones developing holes!

Site is recommended by The Mattress Underground

which is a great sign.
DO NOT go to that website unless you're prepared to spend hours learning more about mattresses than you ever imagined you would. Smilie

I did that about 4-5 years ago. Latex makes it simple though

few main differences.
  • ikea is below 8" thickness. this 9"
  • ikea looks like 1 piece, this is 3 layers, which you can mix/mac for comfort and easy replacement later on
  • ikea's cover is not clear if it's cotton / etc. this one it's organic cotton with wool batting, I believe.
  • I personally would rather pull nails than to drive to ikea and deal with their csr/warranty... if I ever need to.

Curious as to if this mattress would work for me. I'm a stomach sleeper and my spouse is a side/back sleeper. Are we both going to be comfortable with this type of mattress or is one of us going to suffer?

Mattresses are very subjective. Too many variables.

boosterjm - he's not saying deal just general pricing. I made my own latex from 3-3" toppers and case from sleepez.com was like $225 each layer plus cover. Mine was less than $800 for a queen latex mattress.

mbdsmith - sleepyez and other sites sell split layers different firmness for each side in queen and king. I would have posted a deal but it is just their regular sale price which always seems to be extended for any holiday. The best deal they have is shredded latex pillow in a nice cover for free with shipping. Clear cookies to get 2 under different name.

Most likely you'll both be okay. My wife and I bought an Avocado all latex mattress very similar to this one, and she sleeps on her side or stomach, while I can only go to sleep on my back. We both love it. Natural latex is expensive and heavy though. Built a storage bed only to discover heavy duty gas springs can't heft the weight 😂 I still need to figure out how to fix it so she can lift it without my help.

Is there a reason you recommend the shredded pillow over the full latex pillow?

Is the current price about as good as it gets or is there another price you've found better that you would suggest waiting for?
