I guess people have different preferences, but it's the best mouse I've ever used, hands down. My G502 Proteus Core has been very reliable for several years. This is a great price.

Bought this cause it was on sale instead of the Razer Basilisk. Got it home and ended up not liking it. Just didn't feel good in my hand and the scroll wheel no matter if I had it set to click or free wheel just didn't feel good etc. So far I'm glad I spent the little extra and got the Razer.

I agree. Used it for a coupe of weeks and felt cheap. Sticking with the (similarly cheap feeling) Razer DeathAdder Elite.

I was using the G502 for about a year after moving away from the mx518. All I can say is this mouse is _HEAVY_. Within a few weeks of using the mouse I started getting numbness in my fingers. Apparently the heavy weight of the mouse was fatiguing and pinching my nerves.
Long story short I now use the CM MM710 and the pain and numbness has completely gone away.
I have absolutely no idea why Logitech included weights that you can add to this mouse. The mouse is 168 grams. The MM710 is 50 grams. The ninja mouse is 62 grams.
If you're in the market for a mouse, I highly suggest watching Rocket Ninja Jump on Youtube or checking his website http://www.rocketjumpninja.com/top-40/ as he does a wonderful job informing you of exactly what your hand shape and play style would most likely be best at using.
Price wise, this is a good price on the G502. The MM710 is $50. The best Logitech mouse is the G Pro Wireless which is a $120 mouse.

It's 112 to 131g in the lightspeed version. The only mouse I know about that people may use that comes anywhere near it's weight is the Roccat Leadr which is 129g. Unless you're playing non-FPS, it's nowhere near acceptable weight for FPS. Sure people use it... but it's not made for it.
The G400 weighs less than the G502, just so you know. By about 6 to 25 grams.
Pro Wireless is 80g, G403 is 90g, G305 is 85g, G102 is 85g, G900 is 108g.
G502 lightspeed is 112-131g based on real life scaling.

Completely agree. The wheel on this seems to be hit or miss for certain people. It just kept slipping under my finger so I suppose I need a rubber lined wheel. If you don't like slippery wheels, this is definitely not for you.

I have been using a G602 wireless (with 2x AA) for several years that I really like, but wanted a corded mouse for when I dock my laptop. I really like this one. I currently have one weight in it, but I might take it out. Build quality is good, lighting is fun, not too gratuitous.
You will either love or hate the mouse wheel. When it's in clicky mode (with discrete scroll increments), it functions more like my G602's wheel, but is less stiff. When it's in free-scrolling mode (in which you can just spin it and it'll keep going), it's very different. I have gone back and forth, but probably will keep it in discrete mode so that I don't accidantly scroll on web pages, but I can see it being useful in certain games.
