Was walking around Costco last night and saw they had the Google Pixel 3a priced at $199.99. Was not sure how good of a deal that is but seems like people like the $250 deal from T-Mobile so this is cheaper and you do not have to pay a sim card/activation fee.

Wow $199 is a great price! I was at Costco yesterday and it was a mad house, there was a crowd at the wireless booth probably for the S10 deals.
I have the same question. The OP said no sim card/activation fee so I was curious if a new line is required. I couldn't find anything on https://membershipwireless.com/offers about this.
Edited the title. No need to add a line but yes activation is required as it is locked to T-Mobile until you call and have it unlocked. In my experience if you have an account that has been in good standing for a few years and tell them you will be traveling internationally to a country they do not have great coverage in (like Japan) they are willing to work with you on unlocking it before the standard time limit.
