This is freesync, so my Geforce won't have the ability to sync with it? (not sure how all that Gsync/freesync stuff works)

I have an old 1070, and it looks like Geforce started playing nice with Freesync at the beginning of this year, so I wonder if my old card will be able to use it in this monitor...

You want to get the Costco deal. They have an LG 27 inch 144hz g-sync for 179

For adaptive sync to work with this monitor you need a AMD card or a 1000 series or 2000 series card from NVidia and updated drivers. You might need to update the video display firmware too.

I have a 2019 model MSI GS65 laptop with a RTX 2060 and the 144hz 15" screen. I've been wanting to get a bigger monitor to attach to the laptop. Can I do so with this (or something similar) and not suffer any performance loss?

Can anyone recommend a non fancy monitor for around $100? My mom needs one for browsing and typing, I think this would be overkill. Thanks.

You can run with v-sync just fine according to this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/ag6a9f/how_to_enable_adaptivesync_freesync_if_you_have/

Check out the 27" HP FHD 75Hz @ Best Buy. $109. Great monitor... May be overkill for her, but at that price point, why not.

Cool. I am not looking for gaming, just the usual work from home

Not really worth it unless it's for gaming/movies etc. The 144hz and refresh rate are mainly aimed at gaming.

You can start by checking compatibility of this link... not sure if it's comprehensive... but looks like Nvidia has yet to endorse these Sceptre Monitors.
