First time posting so I'm sure there's something I'm not doing right, but canon is offering 20% off the EOS R if you can provide a serial number of a broken or out of warranty canon camera!

Are you referring to CLP (Canon Loyalty Program) and is the camera you bought refurbed?

Maybe? I'm not enrolled in any program though. And the camera I bought was new.

Because it's Canon's best mirrorless so far and everyone wants to compare it to a Sony A7 R IV and Nikon Z7. Those are around $3500 and $2700 respectively.
At $1500 it's a lot of camera.

That's right! Especially with the new 1.4 firmware, the eye auto focus is up to par with the sonys.

Can confirm this is available through the Canon Loyalty/Upgrade Program. I just purchased a new EOS R with mount adapter and 32GB card for $1,540. You have to call in (866.443.8002, option 2), tell them you want to purchase a camera through their upgrade program and give them a serial number from an old out of warranty Canon camera. I used an old PowerShot SD780. Their full-frame cameras are 20% off new, or 10% off refurb. This also stacks on top of the BlackFriday deals they are offering.

I've avoided the EOSR since its release, waiting for the nextgen model to surface in hopes it will be leaps and bounds better but this price is hard to pass up.. good find OP and I am on the fence on waiting or jumping in.

Just remember that this price is only good with the current sale they have going on. I imagine there will be future sales on the EOS R down to the $1799 though.
