PetSmart currently has a nice deal on Fluval FX Series canister filters. You can get FX4 or FX6 for 50% off! Great time to pick up one of these beast for your aquarium.
Is this over kill for a 20 gallon long tank? You can't have too much filtration right? Can you adjust the flow?
Way overkill, these need room to disperse the water. The flow rate is very high, it can be adjusted so to speak.... as the shut offs to clean the filter are on the inlet and outlet tubes. Turning them slightly towards the off position will damper the flow, though I do not think they are meant for that nor would I personally attempt it as it's like trying to blow air through a straw, too much back pressure is not a good thing. My 20 gallon long is ran just with an air bubble filter and water changes. Raised many of fry that way L-201 plecos and blue eyed long fins.
Aquaclear filters are great hang-ons also. But definitely not a fx6 or fx4 on a 20L.
Every fish guy or girl has their own beliefs on equipment types and brands, but all know that water changes are key. Good luck!
Killer deal! Been wanting to get one of these for a while but can't bring myself to spend the $ on my 20 year old 29gal tank. I hope others can take advantage of this deal

Will be my first fx filter. Now I can finally see if these filters are really all the hype.
The marineland 75 gallon for $249 would pair nice with the fx4
