Nest is good if you don't have C-wire but it's doesn't work with smartthings. There are also some issues with the power stealing with Nest if you install it without C-wire.

I have two Ecobees and I like them a lot because I can control them via smart things.

Costco would sure do! You can just go to the store and asked for them to look up your account and do the adjustment. I believe there is a one month rule; have done it once before.

Yep, usually there's a 2 to 4 week period for price adjustments, but you can always just buy a couple more and return using the old receipt
