For those in the know, mind sharing in a nutshell what's the best modern day use case for this service?
EDIT: FWIW here's a Usenet guide some Redditor put together:

Certain rules apply to the service...best way I'd put it that also correlates to that link is the "automated retrieval of content" 😛
I would be curious as to what block accounts people will pair with ND.
SSL port 563 a few connections
Congrats, they now have a record of a bunch of gibberish from your pc to a server. Same record if they had a VPN or remote session for work. Vpn will mask IP, it doesnt mask the account used to upload or download.

Well, I'll put it like this: My VPN slows downloads on EZNews considerably. In over 15 years, I've never had any issues with SSL and NO VPN. So, Torrents = VPN, Usenet= No VPN needed. That is just my experience. I've gotten two C&D's from my ISP, a billion years ago, due to 1) Laziness and 2) Foolishly thinking ToR was safe. That was w/ torrents. Not a peep w/ Usenet and SSL.
Ive been on usenetserver for a billion years, but dam that $30 a year looks temping, but im wondering why its so cheap...
