Has anyone used MiniTool partition wizard to migrate a system hard drive to a solid state drive? i.e. cloning the HDD to a SSD? I'm looking to put a new SSD into an old windows 7 laptop.

many times, I've used the free version to clone probably 10-15 drives like that...very simple!

I have done this twice using their free version and it worked great and was easy to do.

You can try easeus backup free version if you want to clone a disk.

i have used samsung cloning app and that worked fine. but thats all their utility is good for, a single tasker. does easeus backup allow one to make a clone file of a drive?

ideally thats how i would like to backup my disk drives.

i want 1 file image of everything, that i can 'restore' onto a future drive of a future capacity, into the same pc of course so all the drivers and crap work.

then seperatly i would every so often do traditinal backups of specific data files only.
