The Vive has the same tracking system as the $ 1,000 Index. Considered best in class.

You can play this, then upgrade to the Index, keep the Vive lighthouses and sell the Vive HMD+Controllers later, and get a NET SAVINGS of about $200 of the Index in the process!

... get the Index for about $800 total, all in, and have used the Vive basically for free.
