incognito worked for me to show the deal. Unfortunately when I logged into an account that already used a promo (some 2ish years ago), the promo dropped back to the standard 1 month. Probably only works for new accounts.

With this you don't have ads on mobile, can download videos to your device to watch offline, can listen to videos and turn your screen off, have access to YouTube music, etc. etc.

I will say that the best original content on YouTube is available to everyone though so this is a bit different than your typical streaming services.

It's not dead, they just offer different trial lengths to different accounts. Also they rarely ever work again if you had a trial anytime before (even if it shows you the trial, when you click to accept it will change to the monthly price).

I kept getting the 1-month free membership in the US. Then I used my VPN for Japan and now get the 3-month free membership. So the deal is not dead.

Edit: Also add a random Japan zip code for the setup. Don't forget to cancel at the end of the 3-month trial or you will get charged in yen.

I wasn't able to get the 3 months with a new account so did like you and it worked perfectly. When adding a new card I just had to use a Japan postal code. Thanks for the heads up! 👍

In Japan VPN it shows 3 months trail but in the billing page, it shows "Billing starts on Jan 17, 2020, the end of your free trial, and will renew automatically every month."

Edit: Sorry for the confusion here, its showing 3 months for an individual account, for family plan it shows billing starts in Jan17.

Got it. I downloaded Thunder VPN (for free) selected Japan for my country. Then opened Incognito browsing and Google searched 'YouTube Premium'. I clicked on top result that showed Free 3 Month YouTube Premium (not YouTube Music Premium which is only for music videos). I could not select PayPal for payment method (it said my country on my PayPal account couldn't be different than Japan) and had to use my bank account (debit card). For the billing Postal Code I used 1000000 which is Tokyo. Everything went through and next billing date is March 22, 2020. Thank you all. Peace and love.

I'm going to try this method right now - so long as Thunder VPN is free on the iphone and I can do this all on mobile. Fingers crossed!
