To start, the CPU is much more recent. E-2224G is out this year on May and T30 has CPU E3 1225 v5 which came out back in 2016.

I've had multiple generations T20 and T30 for years and run them 24/7, highly recommend these for home server usage.
Not a huge difference. Slightly newer CPU. Passmark score is about 20% higher on the T40 CPU.

Both can take DDR4 ECC UDIMMs. Same amount of bays but I think you can expand the T40 (not positive about that though, so you may want to research if you're looking to do that).

Coupon CyberServer: Offer is valid until 12/6/2019, at 3pm CST or while supplies last, whichever comes first. Save an extra $330 off this PowerEdge T40 Tower Server.

Coupon valid with select other offers, but not with other coupons. Limit of 1 item per customer.

Just a heads up for anybody that was down for more than one.

T30 can have 4x3.5, 2x2.5 HDD if add extra PCI-SATA adaptor, how about T40? I care more about how many HDD it can connect to. As for most server use, CPU difference maybe not that big. Of course there is $50 difference.

I think this motherboard also does not accept m.2 drives if that is a concern... Couldn't find any specs indicating that.
It has one m.2 slot

Maybe this is apples to oranges, but how would this computer compare to one with an i5-9400? Just looking for a PC to run Windows 10 and Blue Iris.

I stand corrected... Thanks for finding that.
