I have this. Works great with an older NVMe SSD. You don't want to waste a newer drive that has transfer rates much faster than USB 3.1. The casing gets hot which is a good thing as it tells me that heat is being transfered from the drive to the case.

Be aware that it's very difficult to remove a drive from the case after you put it in (at least, not without badly scratching the case) because there is no lip or gap to help lift the cover, and it sticks very tightly to the thermal pad on the drive itself. So don't expect to routinely swap drives using this enclosure.
I picked up an enclosure with up to 1gb/s throughput. Still not the full speed of most newer NVMe drives, but 10x what this is for only $2 more.

SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure Adapter, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) to NGFF NVME PCI-E M-Key Solid State Drive External Enclosure (Fits only NVMe PCIe 2242/2260/2280) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MNFH...5Db3DTFRH3
These things are built like a tank! Literally a solid block of aluminum milled out to accept the electronics.

It's funny to see some of the reviews actually complain about the weight (usually it's the opposite with devices: "this feels like cheap junk!"). So, I guess if you're looking for something as light as possible.. this isn't the way to go.

Anyone have luck enabling TRIM on this enclosure on Mac over USB-3?

Any recommendations on enclosures that support Thunderbolt 3 speeds?

This one's cable has both USB C and normal USB. So unless your devices all have USB C, I would go with this one.
