I have a folding bike. I personally like it but it's a pain in the rear to fold it up and bring it in anywhere. The tires and chain get dirty so they are constantly making your clothes dirty... like car mechanic dirty. Also people constantly make fun of the design. Common remarks are, "where's the rest of your bike" and "why are your wheels so small."

In retrospect, I think it's better to get a regular bike and a nice lock/chain then try to lug in your bike with you. That may not work for you but just making some banter.
