Chase Checking & Savings $900 Bonus Offer

I'm not sure if this was targeted or not. It was an offer under my Marriott Chase credit card account. You get $900 cash back when you open a checking and savings account through the link. Sure the interest rates are crap...but once you get your $900 after 3 months, you can close accounts and move elsewhere. Seems like a killer deal...unless I'm missing something? https://accounts.chase.com/consum...px=PT22272

"To receive the $300 checking bonus: 1) Open a new Chase Total Checking account, which is subject to approval; AND 2) Have your direct deposit made to this account within 90 days of account opening. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to Person payments (such as Chase Quickpay® with Zelle®) are not considered a direct deposit. After you have completed all the above checking requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the $200 savings bonus: 1) Open a new Chase SavingsSM account, which is subject to approval; 2) Deposit a total of $15,000 or more in new money into the new savings account within 20 business days of account opening; AND 3) Maintain at least a $15,000 balance for 90 days from the date of deposit. The new money cannot be funds held by you at Chase or its affiliates. After you have completed all the above savings requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the extra $400 bonus: You must open the checking and savings account at the same time and complete all requirements above for BOTH the checking bonus and savings bonus. After you have completed all requirements, we will deposit the remaining bonus due in your new checking account within 10 business days."

Setup a direct deposit of $500 a month or have a balance of over $1500 to avoid fees on checking. And maintain balance of over $300 on savings to avoid fees.

If you have 15k just laying around to open accounts do you really need that extra $300?
Your comment makes zero sense. How do you think we managed to save up the 15k we have "laying around"? By using it wisely for deals like this, that's how. With your attitude, you'll never get to 15k pal.

Thanks. I see the new requirement now...

"Checking offer is not available to existing Chase checking customers, those with fiduciary accounts, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance. You can receive only one new checking and one savings account opening related bonus every two years."

However, the printed offer ($600) I received in the mail doesn't have this 2 yr limitation.
I think you are wrong. Chase now enforces the 2 yr rule for ALL these type of promos. You are either looking at an old offer or you are missing something, Believe me, I did this every year for like the last 6 or 7 years until they changed to every 2 years. Now I have to wait till 2021 :-(

I'm currently in process of the $600 promo. Already got the first $300 for direct deposit. Would have been great if this was my offer!

A side note, if you withdraw money say from your spouses's(not joint) chase account and do this, Chase for whatever reason will know and you won't get the bonus.

My wife currently has this offer available on her account. We have the money available to qualify for the requirements but didn't want to deal with changing direct deposit with her employer...

Can anyone confirm that an external transfer from a different bank to the checking account would count as direct deposit?

Did you set up direct deposit thru your employer? Or transfer money from a different bank to satisfy the direct deposit requirement?

Keep in mind that "subject to approval" gives them a lot of leeway. I tried one of the "combined" bonuses several years ago and couldn't do it online because I didn't have an existing account anymore. So I went to the bank to signup for both, and the branch representative told me I was ineligible because I already had a Total Checking account previously (closed). The terms didn't specify that, but the manager pointed out they have the right to approve or disapprove any account. So I was only allowed to sign up for Savings account promo. Of course, after that I just went home and did the Total Checking account promo online, since by then I had a new account and could open a Checking online. I closed both accounts after withdrawing my bonus deposits, and haven't been back since.

For $300 it's only $1500 that you have to keep in the checking acct and also do the direct deposit for thr bonus and to avoid the monthly fees.
