Chase Checking & Savings $900 Bonus Offer

I'm not sure if this was targeted or not. It was an offer under my Marriott Chase credit card account. You get $900 cash back when you open a checking and savings account through the link. Sure the interest rates are crap...but once you get your $900 after 3 months, you can close accounts and move elsewhere. Seems like a killer deal...unless I'm missing something? https://accounts.chase.com/consum...px=PT22272

"To receive the $300 checking bonus: 1) Open a new Chase Total Checking account, which is subject to approval; AND 2) Have your direct deposit made to this account within 90 days of account opening. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to Person payments (such as Chase Quickpay® with Zelle®) are not considered a direct deposit. After you have completed all the above checking requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the $200 savings bonus: 1) Open a new Chase SavingsSM account, which is subject to approval; 2) Deposit a total of $15,000 or more in new money into the new savings account within 20 business days of account opening; AND 3) Maintain at least a $15,000 balance for 90 days from the date of deposit. The new money cannot be funds held by you at Chase or its affiliates. After you have completed all the above savings requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the extra $400 bonus: You must open the checking and savings account at the same time and complete all requirements above for BOTH the checking bonus and savings bonus. After you have completed all requirements, we will deposit the remaining bonus due in your new checking account within 10 business days."

Setup a direct deposit of $500 a month or have a balance of over $1500 to avoid fees on checking. And maintain balance of over $300 on savings to avoid fees.

Haha, I bet! I never post email addresses in public forums.

Caught up on PM's again. Over 1/3 of them still aren't including their email address. Why is that so complicated?

So how much is required to avoid all fees on these two accounts? If I calculated right $16,500? Is that right? Also can the $15,000 for savings be taken out after the bonus is paid after 90 days or does it need to stay in the account for 6 months?
I'm getting ready to do this today under spouses name (which was not on my account so it would allow both of us to have an account)

If it's the same as last time.

It will be $25 to open checking account
$15,000 for Savings that must remain in there for 3 months--You can take it out after 90 days--I'd wait for the bonus and then move it immediately but the account MUST remain open for 6 months.

Here is how I avoided fees---I allowed my direct deposit to keep going in there (moved the $$$ via ACH to my other checking account earning 3.01% each month after direct deposit hit Chase account)
I left $300 in savings account--I think you can do that or have $25 automatically deposited in there each month. I chose the easy one--just left the 2 accounts on auto pilot and going to close the savings account today and then close the checking account once the direct deposit is moved.

Thanks so much jordanz12 for the code. Opened up account today with NO challenges. The gal opened up an account for Military/Veterans which is a better account and no fees. If your military---then you have the option of this account and it will work for the bonus as it's a premier account and higher up on the ladder then this one. However there will have to be a direct deposit to earn the bonus. Anxious to see if the ACH will work.

I asked what would happen if a person took all their $$$ out of account and closed it before the 6 month and she said it would show a negative balance from claw back of bonus and then of course that will show up when you try to open up other checking accounts. Just not worth it so figure out a way to keep the account open. We will probably keep this account open for awhile because of no fees and some benefits. Won't keep any $$$ in it unless we have to.

She was shocked to see the $900 bonus tho--said she'd never seen one that high. Thanks again for the code.

I guess you don't pay for any payroll software? There is a setup fee and per transaction fee for direct deposit per employee or contractor. Either you have never worked for a small company or you aren't qualified to get hired so you have to run a self employed business at home.

Based on your saying, whoever doesn't have a direct deposit, they must be working illegally.
I do pay for payroll, while there is a per employee fee (I think $2/month) there is no additional fee for Direct Deposit nor a transaction fee.

Costs to employers vary from bank to bank and state to state [nfib.com]

Quote :
Costs to employers vary from bank to bank and state to state. Set-up fees range from $50-$149, on average, depending on the size of the employer and relationship with bank. Some banks also charge ongoing monthly fees for direct deposit, although most do not.

Employers are charged each time they make deposits. A "Transaction Fee" or "Payroll Processing Fee" is charged each time the employer's account is affected (each pay period, for example). In addition, a fee is charged for each employee's deposit. Transaction fees vary from a few dollars to several hundred dollars, depending on the bank, the size of the employer business, arrangements with the bank, etc. Individual deposit fees range from about $1.50 to $1.90 per instance, on average.

As an example, say that an employer has established direct deposit with a bank, and the Transaction Fee is $1.50 and the per-check fee is $1.50. The total charges for each pay period would be $1.50 for the Transaction Fee plus $1.50 for each employee payment deposited. If the employer has ten employees using direct deposit, total costs would be $1.50 for the Transaction Fee plus $15.00 for the ten deposits, or $16.50
