SATA II was already phasing out for SATA III by the time SSDs were hitting general consumers. SATA II SSDs are probably not commonplace. A theoretical limit of 300MB/s would mean even some of the cheapest SATA III SSDs would outperform the best SATA II SSDs.

Just get a cheap SATA III SSD. It's still backwards compatible with SATA II, but you will only get SATA II speeds.

How's the performance of this compared to an m.2 drive?

Thinking of adding one of these instead of replacing the small m.2 main drive.

Keep the m2 boot drive for os and add this drive.

Have a question - my OLD Samsung laptop can only use Sata II. Is there a way to find highly discounted Sata II SSDs?

Something like this is good for keeping Steam on. Games are getting too huge SSD speed is all you need because "faster" than SSD wont matter for games

M2 NVME ssd drives are about 7 times more faster than SATA ssds
Thanks, curious of the real world performance. Noticeable enough to warrant discarding the small factory m.2 and having to do a clean windows install?

Nice deal, but if you have nvme m.2 go for one of those! This is to upgrade systems w/o nvme slot! (be it desktop or laptop)
