EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

My pay off is in 2034. Been paying for almost 16 yrs, my rate is 6 %, How much money would it save me to get a 10 yr loan through better?

To calculate this, you would also need the original mortgage amount and the current mortgage amount at minimum.

If you are at 6% you need to take a serious look at refinancing. I suggest running your numbers at https://m.drcalculator.com/mortgage/ and looking at the Graph view to get a visual on how much interest you are paying. For refinancing take a look at at Zillow and go with lowest bidder assuming reviews are good.

Why do banks charge for refinancing? Don't they want your business?

I wonder what the limits are? I don't have much left in my loan, if I refi'd and just paid it off quickly I would think about this as I don't see a minimum loan amount. But going through a refi is always a PIA, last time they were giving me grief about an permitted enclosed sun room..

well there is no guarantee you'll keep the loan long so they want to make some money on the front end (or take it out in the form of a higher rate)

I'm just kicking off the refi process. I bought a house last year near the peak of rates and am in a 30 year 4.75% loan and I'm paying PMI (cheap--$27/mo) since I'm at 18% down. The upside is that property values in my area have jumped significantly, and my home SHOULD assess over 80% LTV.

I wasn't impressed with Better.com's rates when I looked last month, and I'm still not now. But with a $2500 credit, I can buy enough points to get my net cost low enough that I'm actually beating any other rate quotes I've gotten (3.625%). Very tempted here.

This seems too good to be true. We have a 4% 30 year right now paying almost 2k a month, and if we get a credit back on the fees, it'd be 3.75% with a $1.5k rebate and $1,400 a month? Does that sound right?

My credit score is between 770 and 800 and I just refinanced in late Oct. at 3.375% for 15 years. I wish I hadn't read this thread now because it seems I could have done much better. Frown
