Recently refinanced a jumbo through Ally (also Better.com). Rate was 3.25% 30 year fixed with a negative point that actually paid for the refi. Wish I had known about this deal though. Would have made it slicker.


The answer the post just above mine, I just bought my house about 8 months before refinancing from 4%.

Can anyone confirm if this is an actual Amex offer that has to be saved to a specific card, or is it good enough to apply through this link as long as you have a consumer Amex card?

I called Amex yesterday and asked them this exact question. Their rep told me that it has to be available on your card in order for you to be eligible.

You received a $2500 credit yet the $2500 closing cost was added to your mortgage. This is basically a loan of that $2500. Call this what it is, a no-cost closing offer, which many banks offer, but in this case they dangle $2500 that they "give' you when actually its built into your mortgage

"No-cost closing offers" are what you're describing. They roll the cost into your mortgage. That's not this.

I think this offer has to be listed to qualify!

I'm still watching rates, but for those interested, I started the process on Sunday when I saw this and they have called multiple times and sent multiple emails since then. We told them on the phone Sunday that we were waiting to talk to our mortgage broker in 2 weeks when we can refi through him again (we got a cash-out refi at a higher rate and have to wait 3 months to refi again). They told us Sunday they would touch base again in 2 weeks but then called again yesterday. It's getting annoying. So prepare for that if you give them any kind of info.

I did get an email from better with the 2500$ amex yesterday and the concierge spoke on the phone about the promotion too!

You are probably fine then because I never had that section you pictured... The benefit was just always applied to the loan fee disclosure (no appraisal).
