EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

I have bigger fears going to the store!
I e-mailed them to make sure that the AMEX offer was on my account and they assured me it was. I paid the appraisal fee upfront and was told it would be refunded.
The frustrating part to me is just how slimy they are with the entire thing though. I'm currently on a 30-year 3.75%. The guy on the phone yesterday tried to convince me that it was some grand idea to move to a 15-year at 3.75% and pay ~$2,350 in the process. Somehow netting $150 is worth locking me into a 15-year? Give me a break.
Of course, this was after I had already gone through the 2.375% offer with them that I had from another lender, and instead of trying to get close, they simply quoted me rack rates. Then they said their $1,000 guarantee was not going to apply because it was from a credit union (even though I could PM that CU to many other mortgage providers) and tried to convince me that I wasn't going to get that rate with the CU anyway once I actually get an official loan estimate (completely untrue).
I feel like this just isn't the deal for me. I need Better's $2,500 AmEx deal to make this worth my time, but they clearly do not give a hill of beans about the small loans, and boy are they fluid on that $1,000 guarantee. Their rates are not competitive at all for loans of my size, and if they are unwilling to match, then this is a non-starter for me, not to mention their response time is just awful.
Luckily, i had applied when the rates are low(i clicked the amex link i found here), before this even showed up on my card. I am thinking i can still get the credit.
Should be closing soon.

P.S. Also, as a tip from personal experience, if you want to get the official email targeting you, make sure you opt into all the marketing/promotional emails on the americanexpress.com website. I received mine pretty soon (a week or two I think) after I opted in.
