EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

Anyone close in the last couple of days or weeks? The notary is schedule to come to my house this Friday, I am a bit hesitant having someone over my home.
Our notary (with closing experience) came yesterday. Sat outside by our pool. New pens but lots of paper touching. How can that be avoided? Questions asked and nobody sick on either side. Study everything b4 and sign fast. You normally have 3 days after to cancel anyway.

I have bigger fears going to the store!

Currently in the final phases of closing. They just need to subordinate my HELOC, which will take a couple weeks.

I e-mailed them to make sure that the AMEX offer was on my account and they assured me it was. I paid the appraisal fee upfront and was told it would be refunded.

Mine funded 3/2 but still don't have the credit. My loan's been sold 1-2 weeks ago. Hopefully it'll hit soon.

I sent Better the same 2.375 rate on a 15 year 110k loan too. They refused to beat the offer and reneged on their $1000 guarantee. I filed a complaint with Amex over Better's false advertising and my state's financial department is looking into their tactics.
It feels like Better simply is . . . better . . . for those with larger mortgages. They made it pretty clear to me (as they have to others on this thread) that they do not make as much money with a lower loan amount, so they don't offer good rates.

The frustrating part to me is just how slimy they are with the entire thing though. I'm currently on a 30-year 3.75%. The guy on the phone yesterday tried to convince me that it was some grand idea to move to a 15-year at 3.75% and pay ~$2,350 in the process. Somehow netting $150 is worth locking me into a 15-year? Give me a break.

Of course, this was after I had already gone through the 2.375% offer with them that I had from another lender, and instead of trying to get close, they simply quoted me rack rates. Then they said their $1,000 guarantee was not going to apply because it was from a credit union (even though I could PM that CU to many other mortgage providers) and tried to convince me that I wasn't going to get that rate with the CU anyway once I actually get an official loan estimate (completely untrue).

I feel like this just isn't the deal for me. I need Better's $2,500 AmEx deal to make this worth my time, but they clearly do not give a hill of beans about the small loans, and boy are they fluid on that $1,000 guarantee. Their rates are not competitive at all for loans of my size, and if they are unwilling to match, then this is a non-starter for me, not to mention their response time is just awful.

FYI: Better.com offer showed up on my "Blue Cash Everyday" card.
Luckily, i had applied when the rates are low(i clicked the amex link i found here), before this even showed up on my card. I am thinking i can still get the credit.
Should be closing soon.

Is 2.375 rate with no points? If yes, why bother with better.com. that rate is unheard of so I doubt anyone will match it

Why don't you do a cash out refi and pay it back towards the principal ?

I am refinancing at 2.375. That rate was from a few weeks ago when the market bottomed out. But Better should have given me $1000 since they refused to even come close to the offer. First they stopped communicating, then they said I didn't send the right form, then they said my loan was too small, then they said the quote was from a credit union and it's not public since you need to put $5 into a savings account. It's just a classic bait and switch tactic and it was a total waste of time.

When did you get your credit? My loan funded 3/6 but was only sold ?3/13 (at least, that is the date of the letter saying that I should pay Mr Cooper effective 4/1). No credit yet. Thanks!

P.S. Also, as a tip from personal experience, if you want to get the official email targeting you, make sure you opt into all the marketing/promotional emails on the americanexpress.com website. I received mine pretty soon (a week or two I think) after I opted in.
