EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

Same question. I read the wiki. Can you get this offer simply by having an AMEX card? Do you need to have it in your AMEX account?

I am refinancing from 3.875% down to 3%. Closing costs are $4,723. Minus this bonus, I'll be paying $2,223 to lower my rate by 3%. I'm only 2.5 years into my 30 year mortgage. This seems like a no brainer. Is there something I'm missing? I've got an ass ton of money sitting in my bank account right now and it dawned me I could instead, pay down almost all of my car loan or something (3.5% with 2.5 years remaining.) I duno what the smartest thing to do with my money is. I just feel like $2500 statement credit is huge and I need to do it.

i finally locked in at 2.75% for 15 yr with 0 points. A+B+C+E-lender credit was $1100. Also made sure that my amex was eligible for the $2500 credit. My initial estimate shows 6 months of real estate taxes in prepaids, is this normal? will this change before closing?
What lender did you price match to?

Has anyone actually received the $1000 from Better for not being able to beat another lender? I am locked in with them but got another quote locally that matched the rate and was about 2500 less in closing costs. If you count in the AMEX 2500 they would have been similar. Better told me that they couldn't beat the local lender and told me what I would need to provide to get the $1000.00 back after I close with the other lender but I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this and if they had any problems getting Better.com to pay.
Can you please share who the local lender is?

I should be closing soon as well.
Got 3.375 for 20 year for a 382k loan. Trying to get the rate lower, but they keep saying the free floatdown is not something I qualify for.
Closing cost is $1800, but I still want closer to 3-3.1% rate.
Anyone find a better price for Title insurance and settlement fees in GA? I see $1750 total for that column in my quote.

Coincidentally, just did this today (sort of). Background: Mortgage refinance 30 year, 230k loan. Originally got them to match local credit union of 3%/30 year with 0 points back in mid-April. Fast forward today, looked at a different local credit union and saw they were offering 2.875 for 30 year with 0 points. Sent them an email and got reply they couldn't match the 2.875% but offered $2500 lender credit for my original 3% so I took it. Also confirmed with them this is separate from this $2500 Amex credit.

Hope that helps!
