EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

That's great rate and lender credits. Which title company are you using?

Can someone recommend a good/cheap title company in CA that Better can match?

Here's what is quoted for me currently with Better.
Title-Lenders Title Insurance $550
Title-Settlement Fee $550
+1
Can someone please recommend a good/cheap title company in CA? Thanks.

We are in the process of refi'ing with better.com because of the amex offer. I won't say I am terribly impressed with them. We have refi'ed 4x before this and this has just been 'okay'. We are hoping to close this next Wednesday but this is our 4th scheduled closing date. Better keeps pushing it back because of issues on their part. Hopefully there is no issue getting the amex credit!

I got 45% ltv and 800+ credit they still want appraisal as of now. So guess it doesn't matter.

I asked about adding my Amex card info after they matched the LE I submitted to them. They asked for my card details, and then I locked with them.
It has nothing to do with the numbers for your loan. It has to do with Fannie having an appraisal on file for your property. If it has one in the past, then you dont need to do one again.

The communication is horrible with this company.. U can never speak to any of ur contacts. Be careful if u are in a hurry closing or run into issues
Agreed - I actually complained and they assigned a Customer Success person to ensure my requests were being addressed. There is an option to "schedule a call" and I've always done that so I could talk to a live person....not ideal but figured that out...

Actual rates have barely moved in the past month. Each lender does move up and down for competitive reasons. With the heavy demand, not sure if they need to lower them anymore.

They assigned a customer success person??? Apart from concierge and processing expert..
Every time I call, I get someone who says he is not licensed to work in my state bla bla, hold times, wrong guys, email, no response to comments.. Man. This company communication is horrible if you are first time home buyer

Foe home insurance, for a purchase, how u guys dealing with this.. Do u pay urself or pay it part of mortgage??

I'm having trouble with task them asking for proof of coverage on a house I don;t own yet...

They look a little better today. I noticed the points for my rates are half of what they were on Friday. So rates may be the same but there's a little bit of money to be saved if you have to pay points.

Yep - someone who wrangled in the concierge (who was 2-3 days delayed in replying emails) and processing expert (who I had to always schedule to get on a call) mine was someone named Jasmine Gonzalez

Home insurance - I pay for it directly though most pay it as part of ESCROW
Proof of coverage - ask your ins company to send a quote with the address of your property, that should suffice
