I ordered the R3 model on 1/29 for $199 and got it on 2/4.
I only updated the memory to 8GB Crucial CT8GSFD824A. C16FBD1 DDR4-2400 and still have the original SSD in it.
The laptop has been quite good but it kept giving me the message at startup to update the firmware saying :
"The AFUWINx64 update utility will re-flash the main BIOS, NVRAM and non-critical blocks to address issues with wake-from-sleep on certain Motile systems. The system will restart once complete. Press the Update button to continue or press Exit."
So after avoiding it many times, I finally gave in and clicked on Update.
The Update seemed to go well - it opened an window and showed steps and got stuck in one step :
AMI Firmware Update Utility V5.11.06.1854
Current BIOS version : 1.03 Update BIOS version : 1.06
Reading Flash.....done
Seccure Flash enabled, recalculate ROM size with signature... Enable.
- FFS checksums ... ok
- check ROMLayout ... ok
Loading capsule to secure memory buffer ... done
Earsing Boot Block..... done
Updating Boot Block ... done
Verifying Boot Block ... done
Erasing Main Block ... done
Updating Main Block ... done
Verifying Main Block ... done
Erasing NVRAM Block ... done
Updating NVRAM Block ... done
Verifying NVRAM Block ... done
Erasing NCB Block ... 0x0012A000 (28%)
and it was stuck there for over 20 mins - so I was forced to hit control-c and the update window closed
and BIOS (in System Info was still 1.03) as the system was not restarted but all looked ok.
But when I restarted the system, the power button shows LED and if I press DEL key the keyboard backlights come on but there is nothing coming on the screen and it looks quite dead.
Any ideas what I can do to fix this or other options?
What is the return policy on this ? Is it 14 days or 30 days ?
The day count starts the day you order or the day you pick it up ?
Can I order another one and return this with that receipt or do they track serial # ?
(I did not get any paper receipt for my pickup and the email confirming pickup has no serial#)
Please help ! I really liked the laptop and had no other issues before this.
My preference is to buy another and return this but price now is higher ($249).

After successfully updating the bios, I am very happy with this machine.
When you get the new one, follow these instructions to safely update the bios:
https://www.reddit.com/r/motile/c...06_safely/
First, plug in your laptop and close any background programs.
Download the bios update from the Motile website, then unzip it.
Run CMD as administrator. In CMD, use the CD command. So, "cd C:/users/your_username/Downloads/unzipped_bios_folder/BIOS/PF4*_BIOS/FlashUtil/AfuWin64/"
Run F.bat (just type F and press enter)

Your best bet is to buy another one and return this one.
Walmart policy is pretty lenient - website states 90 days (but I feel better not pushing it past 60 days).

Do they track any serial # ?
I called Motile support and someone picked up and said if was within return window I can call Walmart and request an exchange. Would that be better option that buy new and return 1st laptop with 2nd receipt ?

Forget about the official exchange. Just buy another one and return the old one under the new receipt. obviously the color needs to be the same because each color has different upc barcode.

After reboot everything works fine.
It seems to happen reliably if I let it sleep long enough. So it may actually be hibernated.
I just installed the AMD 20.1.3 software to try to fix this. I had the high cpu usage problem. This is fixed by make a folder called "Radeon ReLive" in the videos folder.
l'll need to try the new bios then.

Windows cannot find 'C:\Windows\Temp\BIOSInstaller.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
and if you have this file, can anyone share the file
Update: Found the solution here - https://www.reddit.com/r/motile/c...exe_popup/
