I don't know about this specific subwoofer, but the Andrew Jones line of speakers have received rave reviews. Some of the best performance/$ you can get. They're typically more of an audiophile geared sound. Neutral and warm, not an emphasis on a lot of bass.
According to reviews. At original price of $600, it's meh. At regular sale price of $300, it's good buy, some people would buy 2 at this price.
Now at $179, i think it is a must. Im pulling the trigger.
Picked up two of these during Pioneer's last ebay / open box promo ($199/ea). I am in the last stages of building out a new home theater; set up and equalized my speakers and subs last night.
First impressions: These are very tight, musical subs, as they should be, with 10" drivers and a sealed box. Listened to a lot of rock and roll today while doing trim work in the new theater. They sound great. Haven't really tested them for the hard hitting movie stuff yet. I knew going in I was giving up some "thump" vs. bigger subs. The real eye opener is the even dispersion of the bass with two subs. My last setup, I had a single Accoustech H100 12". It had a lot of low end oomph, but I always felt the performance was uneven around the room. I'm sold on the dual sub concept.
And that's where I think this deal shines: Two good sounding, smaller subs, instead of a larger, more expensive single unit.
I just got 2 of the infinity r12s from the infinity sale and they sound great for the price of $277 for 2. I don't think they can be beat for the price.
