The price should be listed as 14.95 when you visit that link.
Step two: on the second page of registration, enter promo code NYSave - this will bring the price down to 9.95.
The course is dry and boring - honestly, you can basically just let the timer run while you do other things - but you then save hundreds of dollars on your car insurance for the next three years (over $200 in my case).

That's up to your insurance company. But it's good for three years, so even if they don't prorate you'll still have a good chunk of time left for the discount.
yes and yes
My 3 year term doesn't expire for several months so I will take it then.

There is one video in the whole thing, which I never even played. It's one of those old "blood on the asphalt" type videos about drunk driving.
For the rest of it, nothing automatically advances unless you click on a specific page, so you can just let the timer run out, click next at your leisure, do whatever verification it asks you for, then move on to the next chapter and repeat. I started it Saturday night while binge-watching Parks & Rec, then finished it Sunday afternoon while watching football. There are four quizzes, each with a whopping five multiple choice questions.
I am using Improv one. Hey at least it's a little funny, so I'll consider $10 addl for comedy.
