$9.95 New York State Defensive Driving Course - valid for three year 10% discount on your auto insurance

Step one: sign up at this link (not a unique referral): https://www.newyorksafetycouncil....ee2619de0a

The price should be listed as 14.95 when you visit that link.

Step two: on the second page of registration, enter promo code NYSave - this will bring the price down to 9.95.

The course is dry and boring - honestly, you can basically just let the timer run while you do other things - but you then save hundreds of dollars on your car insurance for the next three years (over $200 in my case).

That's up to your insurance company. But it's good for three years, so even if they don't prorate you'll still have a good chunk of time left for the discount.

How long is the promo code good for?
My 3 year term doesn't expire for several months so I will take it then.

Yeah, uh.. no. You can't just let it run. You need to respond to certain prompts; start videos and watch them; answer quizzes after every "chapter". Gone are the days of just dialing it in.

Absolutely. They will add the discount effective whatever date you took the course. It isn't optional for insurers, they HAVE to add it.

New York State only. Each state has their own rules and classes.

This website [knoji.com] says it's good until September 2020.

You clearly haven't taken this specific course. I just did it this weekend.

There is one video in the whole thing, which I never even played. It's one of those old "blood on the asphalt" type videos about drunk driving.

For the rest of it, nothing automatically advances unless you click on a specific page, so you can just let the timer run out, click next at your leisure, do whatever verification it asks you for, then move on to the next chapter and repeat. I started it Saturday night while binge-watching Parks & Rec, then finished it Sunday afternoon while watching football. There are four quizzes, each with a whopping five multiple choice questions.

Oh snap, I just signed up for this for $21 couple of days ago.
I am using Improv one. Hey at least it's a little funny, so I'll consider $10 addl for comedy.

Did you get a chance to answer questions till you got it correct ? Can you fail ? I am taking the course now, so just curious as to the testing part.

This should be a hot deal in NY now that undocumented immigrants can get driver licenses.
Eh, don't you need an SSN for registration???

Do I really have to call and verify my voice every 10 min? Is anyone actually verifying this step?
