BenQ has their refurbished HT3550 units back at the BF deal price of $1079 (10% off).

While you can get it directly at their website above, I decided to buy it from their ebay site using the 10% eBay Bucks promo, bringing it down to effectively $979 ($100 eBucks Cap).

I've been waiting for a BenQ refurbished coupon for a while to try and get this projector cheaper but they've been a long time coming... this was low enough for me to cave. First time poster, hope some of you get some good out of it.

From my understanding hdr on projectors is pretty awful, particularly these cheaper 4k ones
Multiple reviews tends to gravitate towards the HT3550 actually doing a decent job with HDR. Since that's one of the big draws of the 3550 and I haven't really had time to test it properly yet, I figured I'd mention that.
If you read projector Central reviews all of them will give higher grades for her on projectors because they can't properly light up bright enough to really pop the way it does on say an LCD or an OLED. Videophiles however think hdr is blown out, artificial, and over saturated. I read those reviews, got myself a uhd60 and tested out the hdr and was extremely disappointed.
I'm talking about in the projector world. Of course any TV, especially an OLED can make a huge difference in HDR quality. I'm also one of those videophiles that think HDR is overrated, but I used a 55" OLED and played around with the image on my ht2550 with HDR off (it definitely WASN'T ready for prime time on the 2550) and I was pretty happy with that it achieved for what it was. What my comment originally meant is that I personally cannot yet recommend this projector if you're looking strictly for an HDR upgrade over an existing faux 4K projector, but for me and my house, so far, if you can get a decent return selling/repurposing your existing projector, it's a very nice upgrade from 1080p or earlier faux 4K units. Basically, if you've been waiting on a good 4K projector without shelling out $5000+, this is the best you're going to get for the price for awhile.
