The Commander ones from Lowe's are complete garbage. The lids crack and break easier than on any tote I've ever had. Don't waste your money. I had to return two before I ever left the parking lot. Lids broke loading them into the car. Now all 10 commander totes I purchased have broken lids after moving them a couple times.

Thanks. I have the ones with the diagonal pattern lids and they have been great. I was going to pick up the Commander ones since Lowes is actually local but I guess I'll get the Greenmade ones at Office Depot and just pick 'em up next time I'm out of town.

I plan to do the same as soon as Costco or Office Depot has a sale even though it's an hour round trip drive. I would avoid the ones from Lowe's.

The HDX ones are solid. I also have some from office depot and they are pretty solid. I have them stacked up 3-4 high with no issues.

Just had my storage unit flood 4 inches with HDX stacked 4+ high and everything is fine.

I hate the Costco ones I have; fitment issues and easily cracked lids.

Personally, I would advise against buying any home brand or "cheap" plastic totes. I find the plastic is usually thinner/weaker, quite brittle, and the lids mostly don't fit very well—especially the snap-on type. So they'll crack or wear out very quickly. I stick with well-known brands, and latching lids. You can usually find one big brand or another on sale (or clearance) somewhere. Just my two cents. 😉

Costco in my area has these for 8.5. Everything is very solid about them.

I second this. Got these about 3 years ago when they were around $5 and the lids do crack with even the slightest pressure. I figure you get what you payed for, but I would not buy at this price point.

I have about 30 of these (Lowes version). 2/3 were purchased in 2016 and the rest were purchased last year. The lids are slightly thicker plastic on the older batch, but there isn't a huge difference. I have loaded many of them up with 50-75 lbs and have had zero issues with breakage. I always put the heaviest ones on the bottom and try to fill them completely if anything will be placed on top of them. In my experience an unsupported lid on all but the most heavy duty totes will crack if excess weight is place on top of it.

They're pretty nice. Only gripe I have is that the snap part broke on the lid which is just a thin piece of plastic. It was only 60-63F so it wasn't even that cold to begin with.

Hopefully those shelves come on sale again

I've had the commander ones from Lowe's for at least 5 years, not one issue. And I purchased a couple last year, also no issues. Not sure about the people having issues, possibly overloading them.
