Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 AX11000 Tri-Band 10 Gigabit WiFi Router, Aiprotection Lifetime Security by Trend Micro, Aimesh Compatible for Mesh WIFI System, Next-Gen Wifi 6, Wireless 802.11Ax, 4x Giga

Lowest price ever for this beast on amazon and bestbuy which are price matched at 333.99$

amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/produ...AM10XP0JXS - > In stock Jan. 4, 2020 You can order now and it will ship when back in stock

bestbuy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus...Id=6321917 ---Still available!

not sure how long it will last, but it's currently cheaper to buy brand new, than to get amazon's refurbished product. Previous deal was 4$ cheaper at newegg on slickdeals frontpage. And I personally much prefer dealing with amazon or bestbuy, so I am willing to pay 4 dollars for that convenience.

Hes not really wrong, wifi 6 unless you have gear that goes with it, performance wise increase is minimal when used with AC gear. Most tests on review sites have shown that to be true. The advance functionality of these routers hardly works as advertised. Right now these are a pass, wave 2 should be launching mid next year wait for that.

Sorry for my dumb question. May I know what is wave 2 stands for ?

10 gigabit Ethernet/ internet WAN will be bigger than wifi 6.. I just bought a mobo with wifi 6.. absolutely no neighbors have wifi 6 signals yet. BTW, there have been similar prices for these.. check back in June to see where router prices are if you are not urgently needing to buy a router..
I never understood the rage about Wifi being cluttered up for the longest time (probably 4 or 5 years). Turns out the reason why is because I live in a rural area and no one else has wifi. The moment I go into a non rural area, WiFi signals for days, everywhere.

I learned a lot that day.

Just think of it like version 2 of the same wifi 6 standard.

Well, tourists won't go to geographies without free(or value added hotel) internet WiFi, so..yeah..

At this price, with the resell value of my AC5300 router is around $100-$150, I need to spend an extra $190 to get WiFi 6. Thinking...

Why would someone buy this over a mesh wifi system? I absolutely love my google wifi, I have the older version with the ethernet ports. Which works perfectly for me, I have 3 desktops hard wired into each of them over the house.

Nope. If you need 802.11ax, go Ubiquiti AmpliFi Alien. Ubiquiti > All other consumer network brands.

I feel like you need to be a villian to own this. What is WiFi 6 going to give us? More bandwidth or more distance or both?

Is there anywhere in a house this can be placed without looking horrible and without compromising the wireless signal?

You mean there are "no real benefits" *for you* and *your* use-case.

The more devices you connect and the more data streams you get going, the more you're going to need a beefier cpu. But again, *your* use-case is probably too light to need this.

And maybe *for you* that would be true. However, you have no clue what other peoples needs are. Similarly, it's like you telling everyone they'd never need a Chevy Silverado 2500, and basing it on the fact that a Nissan Frontier does a great job towing a couple of jetskis and basic camping gear.

Good advice always starts with identifying the needs. Bad advice always starts with telling you what you'll never need without having any clue about your workload.

I would say though that if you're in need of this much WiFi bandwidth you're likely doing something professional. If that's the case, I don't think a gaming router is really the right choice.

If you really need these speeds you be looking a pro gear like Cisco, Aruba, or Unifi. So this router doesn't really make sense unless you just want the cool antennas.

For wireless intensive activities like online games, live streaming, wireless backup or torrent..., mesh systems bandwidth cannot give the same stability and low latency compare to these high-end routers.

It's all depends on your wireless usage. For normal users, they don't need this.
