So much I don't get with this post and it sounds like misinformation.
First off, the vast majority who travel would agree a non-stop flight is best. It's typically shorter, no either sitting on a plane to let off people and more on or worse having to find a NEW plane. Also, what would a multi leg trip matter if their entertainment is down? It could be down on the longer leg of a flight and you'd run into mostly the same issues.
Next, a flight from CA to HI isn't 11 hours. I flew direct from Phoenix, AZ to Oahu and the longer flight was somewhere in the 6 hour window. I think there are some that do non-stop from Boston or NYC to HI, those may be 11 hours?
Next, I've never been on a flight where the crew would allow children to run up and down the aisles for hours. I'm pretty sure they stop running on a plane pretty quickly. Oh no, someone reclined their seat! I'm 6' tall and a bigger dude, it's not fun riding on a plane typically anyway and I accept that and prepare myself before hand. I've never been bothered on a flight because of it.
Lastly, this boggles my mind - you relied solely on the TV on the plane working for an 11 hour flight? You don't have a phone, tablet, laptop, Sudoku, or even a couple books to entertain you? If all of the above bothers you so much and you could try to rest, why not upgrade to a 1st class ticket? None of this makes much sense to anyone who's ever heard how a plane trip works, let alone been on a plane.
Edit - there's a very clear rainy/dry season for many tropical islands. It's not hard to find that out...

Going next month. What's your top things to do?
so for 11 hours I had nothing to do but drink. sounds like fun but it wasn't. then these kids ran up and down the aisles non stop because they had nothing to do and the people in front of us put their chairs all the way back. the lady next to me did her nails. just torture.
a good question is...Does it rain in January? it rained for us in November and we couldn't go in the water for safety reasons because of the tides etc. lots to consider

It could stop in Los Angeles, San Diego, other hubs....prior to going to Hawaii...
